Conceptual and observational drawing
In this portrait, I used observational drawing to draw a picture of myself. While I was drawing, I used a mirror to look at myself and tried to draw myself in a realistic way. I decided to draw a smiley face because I always smile no matter what situation, and it's what people see me. For the background, I used conceptual drawing to represent who I am. I drew a candy land because I really like eating desserts. It's an important part of me because it makes me happy every time I eat. It's also related to a cartoon I like, "Adventure time." In the cartoon, there is a candy kingdom which I wish I could go to. Moreover, I drew pictures of cats with different postures and actions. A cat is my favourite animal and I have a lot of memories with it. In the portrait, it also represents me. The sleeping cat reveals a lazy part of me. The cat which tries to reach my arm represents my ambition. Sometimes, I dream of something high which is really difficult to achieve. The cat that is hiding indicates my shyness. I'm a person who can be really quiet with people I am not familiar with. Lastly, the cat which is eating the cotton candy shows that I am a person who loves eating dessert.

Q:How can I use my tool of visual communication to engage an audience?
A: I use contrasting colours to make my work become more distinguishable. Red colour also makes viewers feel more intimidating; therefore it can help then realise the importance of wearing a helmet. Moreover, I use a zigzag line to separate a driver who is wearing a helmet, and a passenger without a helmet in order to point out the difference outcome if there is an accident.
Q:How can I use my art to facilitate "conversation" with he audience?
My art work can help viewers realize that it's important to wear helmet. The image I create convey that driving without a helmet can lead to fatality

Q: How can use performance and action as tools of visual communication?
I put a lot of cosmetics on the background to emphasise how people value appearance. At the end, I use my hand to clear up the space to indicate that the hand can still function, even though it looks bad.
Q: How can I create art that causes the viewer to think in a new way?
I try to draw viewers' attention on the fact that despite how the hand look, it can still function as the hand. It's similar to the idea I want to convey about the appearance. Whether a person looks good or bad, what actually matters is who they are. As a result, I put a make up on my hand to make viewers relate with my idea
