Pre-Service Questionnaire
.Have you ever participated in community service? If so, what kind of activities did you do? How did you feel about your efforts in this activity? Yes. I helped raising children in an orphanage. For me, I like volunteering. AlthoughI felt a little tired after volunteering but I was also proud of myself.
.What issues in the community concern you? There are a lot of issues I am correcting about but the most serious things for me are racism, apartheid, and the gender discrimination. Owing to the fact that every person in the world were born equal, even though they are poor, rich, black, or white, people don't have right to abuse, kill, or bully them.
.How do you imagine yourself contributing to solving these issues in the future (after graduation, in college, or ten years from now)? Imagining myself volunteering in some bigger issue is inspired me. In the future, I want to be the part that solves for something big. I want every person in the world to have the same equality and the same chance to do something. It might be hard but if I really achieve it, I will be really proud of myself. I might start with a small issue, such as the unequality in my community or workplace. I will also persuade people to accept the equality of each person.
.In what ways do you think community service can enhance your education? (For example, how can it broaden your knowledge of diversity, career choices, or social awareness?) Firstly, sometimes when I volunteer, I have to learn something new in order to complete the task. For instance, making an educational video, I will have to study and research a lot on what I'm going to make. If I want to make a video about the french culture, I have to learn about it. Moreover, I have to learn how to edit a video. Doing a community service doesn't mean only others will get benefits, but I also get a useful knowledge and experience that I can apply. The other point is that there is a chance for me to find a thing that I am genuinely passionate and it can change the way how my life is.
.Ideally, what do you think is the most important aspect of doing a community service project? Doing a community service is all about your thought. You have to have a feeling of wanting to help others rather than wanting something back from doing it. Volunteering doesn't mean you have to solve a big issue, even with a small thing such as, encouraging your friends to stop hitting a dog, is also called volunteering.
